Quick Tips To Get That Glow Back
It feels like every time you open social media, someone’s in their “last-minute pre-summer lock-in” era—but let’s be real, it hits different when you’re not even feeling like yourself.
Whether you’re coming off a bad day, post-trip slump, or just in an off-mood, getting back on track isn’t always instant. These are the non-negotiables that help me reset mentally and start feeling like me again.
Here are 5 steps to get back in your vibe:
Put the phone on DND - Feels like a dirty little secret, but to be the best version of yourself, you must begin with self-care. Sometimes that means tuning out all of the outside noise and dialing in to oneself. Putting your phone on DND (Do Not Disturb) tells the body and (everyone else in your life) that you are holding yourself as the highest priority and will get back to them at a later time, and even if some people treat your Do Not Disturb like you suddenly went off the grid. The moment you go quiet, they start wondering where you are or why you’re not responding—when really, you’re just taking a little time for yourself. It’s not that you disappeared… You just needed a pause. Rest isn’t something you have to earn—it’s something you deserve. Taking a pause isn’t you falling off; it’s you protecting your energy so you can come back stronger.
Day n Night - Idk about you, but a crashout at night hits different than a crashout during the day. During the day, I usually have more energy, blast my favorite tunes, and wear non-constricting, oversized clothes. (like sweats and a big T) and have a dance break - Side Note: if you ever find yourself vibing to some music while getting ready or having a good time, add it to a playlist and create your own “feel good” playlist. This will help in future moments when the brain can't think straight or as quickly.
If I feel stressed or anxious towards the end of the day, I always go straight to the rotting method. Similar to the term “vegging out,” the Rotting method means lying in bed or on a couch, watching your favorite show or movie - NOT SOCIAL MEDIA. There is a fine line between rotting into a depression or a glow-up. To rot into a glow-up state, there are a couple of things you should do first. Before rotting begins, ensure the space you are about to rot in is clean and organized. A quick tidy up can make all the difference when you're looking for a safe space. Set a timer for 10 min and see how much you can accomplish. The goal is to pick up the space, not make it Perfect. The next step would be to take a shower, knowing you've washed off any negativity from the day, and, lastly, eat something before you settle in for the next couple of hours. Pro Tip: If you can, I would suggest ordering takeout or making something quick and easy, like pasta or a premade meal.
Robe time - Robes always felt like something to wear only on vacation, but incorporating this little luxury into my everyday life was a complete game-changer. I truly believe that there is no shame in wearing a robe at any time of the day. Whether it be to get glammed up, drink your morning coffee, veg on the couch, or put on a robe can be very therapeutic, especially if you pick one that makes you feel good and comes in the right color and fabric for you. Some of my favorite Robe Brands are Weezie Robes and Pottery Barn.
Go for a Hot-Girl Walk even when you're not feeling so hot. - Walking is a low-impact activity that can boost your energy without you even realizing it. It can help clear your mind, burn calories, aid digestion, and improve sleep.
Let’s be honest—everyone is always searching for the next big trend in wellness. Whether it’s Hot Pilates, an intense core workout, or Hyrox, everyone has different needs. Sometimes, you may require an intense workout to get back into shape, while other times, all you need is to move. Remember, movement doesn’t have to be an all-or-nothing approach; any amount of activity is better than none at all.
We often focus on intense workouts, complicated routines, and the “all or nothing” mindset. But what if the real secret to feeling better—both mentally and physically—was something much simpler?
Incorporating walking into your daily habits can have a significant overall impact. Even when you're short on time, just 10 minutes can make a difference. Taking a walk around the block or at your local park can be mentally grounding. I also prefer areas near water, as the sound of waves can create a calming sensory effect. Take it slow, but staying consistent can help maintain your “Hot-Girl” energy and vitality.
Treat Yourself (But Make It Intentional) - Let’s be real—sometimes the smallest things hit the hardest. A little sweet treat? That’s the cherry on top of your glow-up era.
It doesn’t have to be anything crazy. Maybe it’s your go-to matcha, a nostalgic candy bar, a face mask night, or finally trying that beauty product you’ve been eyeing. It’s less about what you get and more about how it makes you feel—like you’re pouring back into yourself for a second.
Ever notice how one really good day can shift your whole vibe? You wake up the next morning feeling lighter, clearer, a little more put together. That’s the energy we’re chasing. And sometimes, a small treat is what helps you reset and step into that version of you.
But here’s the balance—this isn’t about overdoing it. It’s not an everyday splurge or something that stresses your bank account. Think of it as a once-in-a-while, just because “I deserve it” moment.
Also, lowkey—don’t sleep on free experiences. Cities are full of pop-ups, brand events, and random little moments where you can grab free drinks, samples, or even products. It’s giving the main character energy and is budget-friendly.
Because taking care of yourself doesn’t have to be loud or expensive… sometimes it’s just a small treat that reminds you you’re doing better than you think.
If you made it this far, I hope these tips helped inspire you to take care of yourself and ignite your inner glow! Make sure to keep an eye out for next week's post on Little Sweet Treats.
