4 Must-Try Lunch Spots in Midtown Manhattan
Midtown: the Center of NYC! To any Native New Yorker Midtown is the most overwhelming part of the city. Mostly filled with Traffic, and Tourist attractions. Its definitely NOT the first spot on someone’s mind to visit. That being said there have definitely been some new additions to Midtown that have been a little more enticing compared to the pre pandemic chronical. Many companies have returned to an in-office/hybrid model resulting in an influx of people during the typical 9-5 hours and the upcoming Holiday time typically results in an influx of tourism. whether your working a 9-5, strolling around or just visiting from out of town these are the top 5 places you should hit for a quick bite.
Barnie Brown is a sandwich shop centrally located between Herald Square and Times Square. It is the perfect spot to get a quick sandwich when you are crunched for time. If you plan to stop by, be warned that there are no indoor dining areas, and the only way to place orders is via store-provided iPads or mobile order. My personal favorite on the Menu is “The New Yorker” (of course, Haha), which includes Turkey, Pastrami, Swiss, Coleslaw, Kettle Cooked Chips, and Russian Dressing on Ciabatta. They also have phenomenal specials that change monthly, so make sure to give them a try.
Lazzara’s is a 2nd-floor hidden gem that has been around for what feels like a lifetime. They are mostly known for their infamous thin-crust pizza. This spot will definitely have you dreaming about Pizza even after you stuff your face. My personal favorites are the Margherita slice and the Pepperoni.
Located in the Virgin Hotel, Everdene is a great place for Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, and even after-work drinks. I recently visited and had the Smash burger. The energy was great and they have indoor/outdoor seating. I personally recommend the Arnold Palmer and if your +21 Arnold Palmer with Tequila. I will definitely be returning!
Rounding things out with, This Chill Mexican spot is Great for Drinks, small bites, or even a 3-course meal. founded by Chef Thomas Kelly, who quit his 9-5 and launched Mexicue out of a food truck, has a playful take on tacos and creates magic in your mouth. The Menus have updates pretty frequently and are always on my mind. It's great if you want to grab after-work drinks or impress an out-of-town business partner with the New York food scene.
So yes—Midtown can be chaotic, crowded, and a little overwhelming. But if you know where to look, it actually has some solid food spots hiding in plain sight. Whether you’re running out for a quick lunch break, wandering the city for the day, or just trying to avoid another overpriced tourist sandwich, these Midtown lunch spots are definitely worth the stop. Consider this your reminder that even in the busiest part of NYC, a good, quick bite is never that far away.
